TODAYS TOP STORIES

Monday night parents met with Columbus Public Schools officials to voice their concerns about the district's plans that would close some schools.
Heyl and Moler Elementary schools would close at the end of this school year. Students from those two schools would go to a new elementary school at the Southmoor Middle School building. Students from Southmoor Middle would then be divided up. The 7th and 8th graders would go to South High School.
Parent Ruby Alexander says, "That's hard on a kid that used to think that they at least finish in one school and have to move to another school where I have to change again."
Superintendent Dr. Gene Harris says, "This is a very difficult thing this is not anything that we enjoy doing as an administration or as a board."
The district will present its final recommendation to the school board next week. Then the board is expected to vote on the issue December 20.
