British TV Drama ‘State of Play’ On BBC America Next Week, Take A Sneak Peek

Written on December 2, 2011 by
It was first aired on US TV in 2004, it has already been released on DVD and you may have even seen the Hollywood movie adaptation, but still, the absolutely brilliant British TV drama series ‘State of Play’ is well worth tuning in for when it airs again on BBC America next week.
Starring numerous famous faces, John Simm (Life on Mars), David Morrissey (South Riding) Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire), James McAvoy (X-men: First Class) and Bill Nighy (Love Actually), helmed by Harry Potter director, David Yates and penned by Shameless writer Paul Abbott, I can ensure you that the tension packed 6 part mini-series has held up great since its initial release eight years ago. Heck, even the American movie adaption starring Ben Affleck and Russell Crowe was pretty good!
State of Play is set in London and sees a politician’s life (Morrissey) become increasingly complex as his research assistant is found dead on the London Underground and, in a seemingly unrelated incident, a teenage pickpocket is shot dead. The highly acclaimed drama explores the tumultuous world of respected journalist Cal McCaffrey (Simm) and his sarcastic newspaper editor Cameron Foster (Nighy) as they attempt to unearth the connection between these two seemingly unrelated murders and this prominent, yet deceptive politician. Revelation upon revelation pile up in the aftermath of these two seemingly unconnected events, ultimately bringing to light shady dealings between the government and major corporate powers. Friendship are tested and lives are put on the line as an intricate web of lies unfolds.
Take a sneak peek at this upcoming drama series with a couple of videos I have unearthed, including the original trailer, the Dramaville trailer and a clip featuring James McAvoy & John Simm.
This excellent British TV drama arrives December 7, 10:00pm ET/PT on BBC America for six weeks.
